St Lawrence Church Choir

St Lawrence Church has a long and rich musical tradition. The robed choir of 4-part (SATB) adult voices plays an integral role in leading the worship of the church.

The choir sings at the 9.30am Sunday service, major festivals; choral evensongs and weddings (upon request).

The choir sings a broad repertoire of music from the Anglican choral tradition and there are also opportunities to take part in concerts as well as visits to sing services at cathedrals and other churches. The choir was part of a hugely successful concert in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee and has also been invited to sing Choral Evensong at St Albans Cathedral several times.

We are currently in the hands of Marianne Ryall as Director of Music and a rota of willing musicians as Organists.

If you sing and are interested in joining the church choir or if you would like more information, please get in touch with the church office who will put you in contact with the musical team.

There is no formal audition to join the choir; you are very welcome to come along to a couple of practices to find out more and to see whether it suits you. Our practices happen at 7.45pm on a Wednesday evening.
