On 10th August 2011, the Revd Margaret Davis preached her last sermon as Curate in the parish. This was also the day on which the parish celebrates its Patron Saint: Lawrence, Deacon in Rome, Martyr, 258. You can find a copy of the sermon here.
On 20th February 2011, the Bishop of St Albans, the Rt Revd Dr Alan Smith, came to St Lawrence to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Re-dedication of St Lawrence following the fire on Valentine's Day in 1969. It took two years for the church to be re-built and the original re-hallowing was on 18th February 1971. On this visit, the Bishop also dedicated a new altar cloth for use during Holy Week and for martyrs' anniversaries, including our own St Lawrence. It was also the beginning of the diocesan initiative, Living God's Love. The Bishop's sermon is attached for you to read.
On 31st October 2010, All Saints Sunday, Mr David Nye, Chairman of the Diocescan Board of Finance and a Reader in his home parish of St John's, Harpenden, preached on the theme of both All Saints and Stewardship. His sermon is attached for you to read.
